You’ll visit the stunning Humantay Lagoon, known for its turquoise waters beneath the snowcapped peaks, and reach the impressive Salkantay Pass (4,650 m), offering one of the most spectacular panoramic views along the alternative Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

The adventure begins early with a hotel pickup around 4:30 am, followed by a two-hour drive to Mollepata, where you’ll enjoy the breakfast and pay a small entrance fee to the local municipality. From there, the journey continues by car for another hour to Soraypampa.From Soraypampa, we’ll begin our hike uphill to the stunning Humantay Lagoon (4,200 m), a walk that takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once at the lagoon, you’ll have free time to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and feel the sacred energy of Humantay Mountain. We will then descend back to Soraypampa for a hot lunch. In the afternoon, you can relax, explore the surroundings, or enjoy a breathtaking sunset over the Andes. Dinner and overnight stay at Sky Camp or Lodge, with an amazing view of the Salkantay.
The second day begins early with a wake-up call around 5:00 am, accompanied by a warm cup of coca tea. After a hearty breakfast at 5:30 am, the group begins the most challenging and rewarding part of the trek: ascending to Salkantay Pass at 4,630 meters (15,190 ft). The climb takes about 3 to 4 hours at a steady pace, rewarding hikers with panoramic views of surrounding peaks. At the summit, you’ll have time to enjoy incredible scenery, take photos, and participate in a brief Andean ceremony honoring sacred mountain spirits. After soaking in the views, the descent begins, lasting about 2.5 hours back to Soraypampa, where transportation awaits to take the group to Mollepata for a well-deserved lunch. After lunch, the journey continues by car back to Cusco, arriving around 6:00 pm, marking the end of this unforgettable trek into the heart of the Andes.
